Yesterday, I did an hour-long teleclass/call, on 10 ways to maximize your patient newsletter. One of the things I covered was sending your patient newsletter at no cost to you.

Briefly, here’s the strategy:

Add a sponsor to your newsletter.

a. First, choose a sponsor/advertiser that works in harmony with the patients you have – you know, someone who would benefit greatly from the linkage and exposure to your patients inside your newsletter.

b. Decide how much space to dedicate to your sponsor. It can be in the pages, or, my preference, a separate insert and then, somewhere in the newsletter, give mention to the sponsor, what they do, how well they do it, your trust, etc., if appropriate. Also consider allowing them editorial room, as well, in the actual newsletter.

c. For example, if you’re spending $800 each month to mail your newsletter, get one or two sponsors (or more, it’s up to you) to each provide content/ad and $400.

d. Choose sponsors that are already actively promoting their business and are savvy with advertising. You’ll have a better response from your patients and they will, too. Surgeons, chiropractors, CPAs, insurance agents, etc., are all fair game. I go to the ones I already do business with and have a relationship with, so there’s no need to “sell” them, instead, I let them know I am offering the “opportunity” to them, first, to be featured in this highly targeted, niched, quality, regular monthly publication which is sent to people that are great patients, pay, stay and refer.

This isn’t meant to be a replacement for hearing what I discussed in detail on the call yesterday, but you get the idea.
